A little adventure in Verdon, France.

2 hours from the Riviera is a small town called Verdon.  This past weekend I traveled to this quaint town for kayaking, but ended up rafting down 15 km so of the most beautiful waters I have been on. Before the excursion we (my swiss and french classmates) went to a local market and bought warm bread, soft cheese, fresh meat and salty olives from a local stand and ate lunch by the river. We then searched for the meeting point of the place in which we were supposed to meet. The company was unorganized, gave little to no instructions (partly because he mostly spoke french) and intentionally flipped the boat over for fun. With that being said, I was like a little kid in the candy store. Rapids, climbing rocks, jumping into a 'raging' river, and meeting people from all across the world is the perfect day. It is safe to say I am making the most of my time here in France, and loving every minute of it!

19 Kilometers Later

Route to Théoule.

My short 5k run turned into a 19km journey to the Promenade André Pradayrol in Théoule-sur-Mer - A neighboring beach town to Cannes. The run/walk there was beautiful, hence why I did not stop. I wish I brought Euros and a bikini because I just wanted to dive into the deep blue ocean and buy water by the end of the journey there. All I have to say is my legs are numb and I am getting way too much sun. Guess things could be worse.

Je suis arrivé à Cannes

I have arrived in Cannes!

Flying over the  French alps

After having to slightly change plans due to Tropical Storm Andrea in Florida, I had to leave one day early for France. The 7 hour flight flew by as I slept 90% of the time. I then booked a flight from Geneva to Nice and took the bus over to Cannes in which the driver had to wake me up because I was sleeping the whole time. Oops. So there I am standing on a street corner in Cannes, surrounded by little cafés, the serene ocean, beautiful yachts and my luggage. The most interesting part would have to be the diversity of the people I have seen thus far. I am infatuated with the way people interact with an environment from different parts of the world.  I then figured my way to the school where I will be staying for the next two months. The people seem very nice, the school overlooks the ocean (dangerous, I will most likely spend my afternoons in the sun rather than studying).

Battling slight jet lag I decided to get lost and walk around for a few hours, and boy, getting lost was an understatement. I have no idea where I was or how to get back to where I originally started but that is the fun in traveling to a foreign place. I have never been to Cannes nor do I know a single person who resides here. The architecture is romantic and the people are interesting. I am excited to eat at a few small little restaurants I saw off the beaten path. Once I learn explore more I will post the cool places I find along with a gallery of photos.

Well hello there virtual world!

Chamonix, France. March 2013.

Coming from someone who thoroughly enjoys awkward situations, I find it rather bizarre to write about myself in a blog. For those who know me best I love a good Vine, Instagram, Tweet or SnapChat. On the other hand, writing or blogging is a genre of social media I have yet to dabble into. With an exciting summer in the South of France that is about to commence, I thought it would be a lovely challenge to write about my experiences and share them with those who are the least bit interested. I apologize in advanced for any grammar errors. It has been a while (after all, I do go to art school).

For those who don't know me (or think they know me) let me tell you a little about myself. I am originally from Long Island New York and grew up in the sunshine state of Florida. I am currently studying fashion marketing at SCAD in Savannah, GA, USA. In the fall of 2010 I decided to pursue an education specific towards fashion simply because it embodies and reflects the political, societal and economical times throughout the world. Fashion is seen through art, architecture, and interior spaces all encompassing the best and worst of times. As much as I enjoy studying fashion, I do not think there is a more important form of education than getting out there and experiencing how different societies function. I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to travel all around the world considering my wonderful mother is a retired airline employee. My favorite things in life other than traveling would have to be the sun, the snow and the water.

This past summer I moved to Chamonix, France for 7 weeks to study the french language and engulf myself in the beauty of the Alps. Lets get real, there was more skiing, drinking, dancing and laughing than there was studying - but that is besides the point. I had the opportunity to meet people from all ends of the world with all different life goals. What is the point of this? To always remember to keep your mind susceptible to different cultures around you and to never settle for less than you deserve.
